Mission Creep.

There is an old military term: ‘Mission creep’ when what started out as a straightforward operation keeps acquiring extra objectives. Literary series can see much the same process and my ‘Saltbury Chronicles’ series has followed a consistent pattern with each one a little longer than the last. I was getting a bit worried, as ‘Rachel’ approaches twice the length of the first in the series. It turns out that I am in good company, though. A certain J. K. Rowling had books almost three and a half times the length of the first in her Harry Potter series, and she didn’t do so bad. ‘Rachel’ just caught up with the ‘Half Blood Prince’ !
