A rather strange thing is happening. I actually seem to be writing the right book for once. The next in the series, ‘Rachel’ is away being proof read and the next one after that, ‘Carol’ is already written, so I’m writing the one after that: ‘Sisters’. It is actually number 7 of the ‘Saltbury Chronicles, but just to be awkward, it was one of the first that I plotted out when I first envisaged the series. Trust me to make things difficult. Imagine producing something complex like an oil refinery in sections. You build one bit, then have to build six more big sections, and float them into place so that all of the pipes join up exactly as they should. It’s sort of been a bit like that. Oh well, the book just passed the 60,000 word mark, so that should be about half way.
