I am not someone who finds computers intuitive. Goodness knows how I ever worked without, them and I am old enough to remember having to. I still have a mechanical typewriter under my desk, and a drawer full of old fashioned Letraset dry transfers for lettering drawings. But even so when people tell me about a new bit of computing, and tell me: “But a child of five could understand it.” what they don’t say is that as far as I am concerned only a child of five could understand it. And I don’t have one.
So what’s your point, Jo? Getting a book from the computer draft and turning it into a Kindle book that you can upload and actually sell is quite a complicated process. I have learned how to do it, but the snag is that as I produce roughly three books a year, that still gives me plenty of time to forget again before the next one is finished. So when I say I’ve learned how to do it, what I mean is, I’ve learned multiple times: every time I launch a book in fact. I’m currently doing the ebook for my new book ‘Rachel’, which will be out next week, so I’ve just leaned once again how to do it. But I’m willing to bet that when I do ‘Carol’ in time for Christmas, I’m going to need to learn again. Jingle bells anyone?
