‘Martine’ is going well.

It’s strange the way ‘Martine’ is turning out.  The first full draft is just days away from being finished now, and hopefully sometime next week I’ll be done and able to start editing ‘History Girls’, the next one due to be published.  In the meantime though, there are nuances and drama, especially in the ending of ‘Martine’ that I wasn’t expecting, so hopefully neither is anyone else.

Oh, and Wyeburn now has a village Policeman, who just happens to be Agnes Leyford’s brother-in-law and a teensy bit under her thumb.

As for ‘History Girls’, it’s always good to be able to leave a book to mature for a few weeks before I start to edit.  That way I can forget what happens enough that I can get some sense of surprise and so see something of how it will seem to the reader.  It also means that when scanning for typos and other glitches I stand a better chance of seeing what’s actually there, rather than just what I intended.
