My readers are all familiar with Rock superstar Debbie Stewart and her wife Martine Fauld. They are the mothers of one of my two central characters: Hazel.
This new book takes us back a generation to the 1970s to when the couple first met. Debbie is right on the cusp of global stardom, but she’s newly widowed at just nineteen, and battles with doubts as to whether she can still write good enough music without her beloved song-writing partner.
Meanwhile, this truly genius Rock guitarist faces blatant sexism from her record company and even within her own band. She’s threatened first by a stalker and then by a media feeding frenzy when the papers discover that her new relationship is with a woman: Martine.
I must confess that Deb has always been my favourite character. If I could be anyone, real or fictional, it would be her. So it’s been wonderful to have the opportunity to explore her in more depth, not to mention the other members of her band.
I think ‘Martine’ is my best book so far, but I’ll leave that for you to decide. I just hope you like it.
You can get it on Kindle here in the UK, here in the States, or worldwide.
