I like teddy bears, so I’m afraid quite a few of my characters love theirs. Up to now we have seen:
Buh. This little rascal is Sofie Fauld’s beloved teddy and very definitely a girl bear. ‘Buh’ was really meant as ‘Bear’, but Monster was still too young to pronounce that properly when she named her. Her fur eventually became so worn from being cuddled that Sofie’s mother Martine made her, her own clothes which also served as reinforcement. Buh is a very loyal bear. . She guards Sofie at night and in fact she can always be relied on to join in whatever mischief Sofie has planned. Sofie still cuddles her when she sleeps alone at 20.

Monster’s Ears. Little Sofie Fauld (a.k.a. Monster) loves joining in with the musicians of the family, who often play deafeningly loud in the ‘Cottage’ music room. To protect her delicate three year old hearing, she has a special pair of ear defenders with ear cups shaped like teddies. She is very proud of them.

Rabbit. is a beautiful teddy rabbit which Roisin Fauld gave her sister Hazel for Christmas when she was 19 and which Haze named with her usual flare (not) for originality. Rosh has called Hazel ‘Bunny’ or just ‘Bun’ since they were little because as a small child Haze always wanted a pet rabbit.
Sito. She is Danielle Fauld’s bear. Osito is Spanish for teddy-bear and, as we know, the Fauld girls were brought up bilingual because of their mother Martine’s mother, Andrea, being Spanish.
Teddy. is Hazel Fauld’s less than originally named teddy bear. When Haze was little she assumed he was a boy, but in her teens, the bear let her know that she was actually a girl. Tina Burn’s childhood bear also seems to be called Teddy. He is a he though, and now lives on her desk.
William. is Penny Clearwater’s childhood teddy-bear, who is still a comfort to her as a design student. He’s golden brown, with only one eye and she loves him more than she’s prepared to admit.
